This Privacy Policy explains how VitaBaby — operated by Vitaledger Group (referred to as “we”, “us”, “our”) — collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile and desktop application and related services (collectively, the “Services”). VitaBaby is a baby weight, feeding, and growth tracker designed for parents of babies and children aged 0–12, with particular focus on families navigating slow weight gain.
By accessing or using the Services, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Policy, do not use our Services.
1. Information we collect
We collect personal information that you provide to us directly, information automatically generated through your use of the Services, and limited information from third parties (such as Apple) where you grant us permission. We categorise the information we collect as follows:
1.1 Information you provide voluntarily
- Account & contact data: name, email address, password, optional phone number, and your communication preferences.
- Baby & family health profile: your baby's date of birth, weight, height (optional), and any feeding goals or notes you choose to record (e.g., target daily calories from your pediatrician).
- Feeding & nutrition logs: the feeds, meals, snacks, weigh-ins, and appetite notes you record in the app — used to generate trend charts, daily nutrition totals (calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber), and pediatrician-ready summaries.
- User content: any photos or notes you optionally attach to logs (e.g., a photo of a meal, a label, or a weigh-in).
- Payment information (if applicable): billing details and subscription identifiers for VitaBaby Pro or VitaBaby Max in-app purchases. Payment cards are processed by Apple — we do not receive or store raw card details.
1.2 Information automatically collected
- Usage data: how you interact with the Services (e.g., features used, sessions started, screens viewed), device information (model, OS version, language, unique device identifiers), and aggregate event data. Usage data is not linked to your identity.
- Approximate location (optional): if you enable location services, we may use coarse location to surface region-relevant recipes or content. Location is never required to use VitaBaby.
- Crash & performance data: error logs and diagnostic data used to improve app stability. Not linked to your identity.
1.3 Information from third parties
- Apple App Store: when you purchase a subscription, Apple shares the minimum transaction metadata necessary to enable or restore your purchase (e.g., receipt validation tokens).
- Nutrition reference data: we use third-party food and nutrient databases to look up the macros of foods you log. Lookups do not transmit personally identifying information about you or your baby.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve VitaBaby. We only use your information for the purposes stated in this Policy or otherwise disclosed at the point of collection. Specifically, we use information to:
- Provide the core tracking experience: store your baby's profile, log feeds and meals, plot growth charts, calculate daily nutrition totals, and generate parent-friendly summaries you can share with your pediatrician or health visitor.
- Generate AI recipes and meal plans: tailor recipe suggestions and weekly plans to your baby's age, profile, and goals.
- Improve VitaBaby: analyse aggregate, non-identifying usage data to fix bugs, prioritise features, and improve performance.
- Process subscriptions: enable and restore VitaBaby Pro and VitaBaby Max via Apple in-app purchases.
- Communicate with you: send service messages, important account notices, and (with your opt-in) occasional product updates. You can opt out of non-essential email at any time.
- Maintain platform security: detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorised access.
- Comply with legal obligations: meet regulatory requirements and respond to lawful requests.
We will never sell your personal information, and we will never use your baby's health profile or feeding logs to send third-party marketing without your explicit opt-in consent.
3. Sharing of your information
We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties for commercial purposes. We only share information in the limited circumstances below, and every recipient is bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations:
3.1 Service providers
- Cloud hosting & storage: reputable cloud providers process and store data on our behalf in encrypted form.
- Apple: processes in-app purchases for VitaBaby Pro and VitaBaby Max.
- Analytics & crash reporting: aggregate, non-identifying performance and diagnostic data may be processed by third-party tools to help us improve stability.
- Nutrition data providers: third-party food databases that we query for nutrient information — without sending personally identifying details about you or your baby.
3.2 Legal & regulatory requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law (e.g., a court order, subpoena, or government request) or to protect our rights, the safety of our users, or the public.
3.3 Business transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or other business transfer, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will notify you of any such transfer and update this Privacy Policy accordingly.
3.4 With your explicit consent
We may share information with third parties when you provide explicit consent — for example, when you choose to export and email a pediatrician-ready summary to your healthcare provider.
3.5 Anonymised & aggregated data
We may share fully anonymised, aggregated, non-identifiable data with researchers or public-health organisations for purposes such as nutrition trend analysis. This data cannot be used to identify you or your baby.
4. Data storage & security
4.1 Storage
- Where data is held: all personal and health-related data is stored on encrypted cloud infrastructure operated by reputable providers under industry-standard security controls.
- Data retention: we retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. If you delete your account, we will permanently delete your personal data, subject to any legal retention requirements.
4.2 Security measures
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest (industry-standard symmetric encryption).
- Role-based access controls for our team and service providers.
- Regular security reviews, dependency updates, and incident-response procedures.
- Secure password hashing for user accounts.
4.3 Your security responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at kinson@vitaledger.info.
5. Your rights regarding your personal information
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., EU/UK GDPR, California CCPA/CPRA, Hong Kong PDPO), you may have the following rights. We will respond to valid requests in accordance with applicable data-protection laws:
- Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal and operational retention requirements).
- Data portability: request a copy of your personal data in a machine-readable format.
- Opt-out: opt out of non-essential communications.
- Withdraw consent: withdraw any consent we rely on as the legal basis for processing.
To exercise any of these rights, please email us at amanda@vitaledger.info with the subject line “VitaBaby Data Rights Request” and include your account details for verification.
6. Children's privacy
VitaBaby is intended for use by parents and legal guardians (aged 18+) — not directly by children. The account holder is the adult parent, and any data about a baby or toddler is recorded by that adult on the child's behalf.
We do not knowingly create accounts for users under the age of majority in their jurisdiction. All data about babies and children (e.g., date of birth, weight, feeding logs) is collected solely for the purpose of providing the tracking and planning features and is never shared with third parties for commercial purposes. Parents and legal guardians may access, correct, or delete this data at any time by contacting amanda@vitaledger.info.
7. Third-party links & services
The Services may contain links to third-party websites, apps, or services (for example, when a recipe cites an external source). This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party services, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices or content. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through VitaBaby.
8. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or the Services. We will notify you of material changes by:
- Posting the updated Privacy Policy with a new “Last Updated” date.
- Sending a notification to your registered email address (for material changes).
Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of the updated Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
